EVEConnect works with IFTTT giving you creative control over the products and services you use through "Recipes", which allow for "Triggers" with associated "Actions". Recipes are simple connections between products. IFTTT Recipes run automatically in the background, creating powerful connections with one simple statement - If This Then That. Getting Started

To use EVE for Tesla with IFTTT follow these instructions using a computer (not in your Tesla):

  1. You will need a Premium account with EVE for Tesla to use EVEConnect and the IFTTT features. If you currently have a Basic account you can upgrade by logging into your profile and clicking the Upgrade button.
  2. If you haven't already done so you will need to register an IFTTT account at http://IFTTT.com
  3. Login with or register a Premium EVE for Tesla membership.
  4. From your Profile Page complete the EVEConnect setup process:
    • a) Click on the EVE Connect menu item at the top of the Profile Page.
    • b) Click on the Setup EVEConnect button. NOTE: If you have already setup EVEConnect for your Smart Home you will be taken to the configuration page. (skip to Step 'f')
    • c) Using the satellite map, ensure that the pin is on your driveway just outside your garage door.
    • d) If you have Wink Smart Home product you can set these up by clicking on the Authenticate to Wink button, otherwise you can skip this step by clicking on the Skip This Step button.
    • e) On the Step 2: IFTTT Page click on the Complete Setup button.
    • f) You will now be taken to the Home Automation configuration page. Choose the distances for Leaving Home, On the Way Home, and Arriving Home. If you have chosen to setup Wink Smart Home products you can optionally choose to associate Wink Shortcuts to these three triggers as well.
  5. On the Home Automation configuration page you will see an IFTTT section. Click on the "Setup IFTTT" button to be taken to the EVE for Tesla channel on the IFTTT website. https://ifttt.com/eve_for_tesla
  6. If you are not signed in to IFTTT you will need to sign in.
  7. Connect the EVE for Tesla channel to your EVE account by clicking on the Connect Channel button. A page will open and ask you to authorize EVE for Tesla to work with IFTTT. Use your EVE for Tesla login if asked.
  8. See the instructions below to get started creating recipes using EVE for Tesla.
  9. If you have not previously setup EVEConnect you should logout of your EVE for Tesla dashboard (in the vehicle) and re-login
  10. After creating recipes: On your EVE for Tesla dashboard (in the vehicle) tap the Reload Button in the EVEConnect App. NOTE: this may take up to 2 minutes for EVEConnect to be updated in your dashboard app

Creating IFTTT Recipes Triggered by your Tesla

With the EVE for Tesla IFTTT channel, you can now trigger automations simply by leaving home, driving home, and arriving home. As an example, this could include turning on a porch light, controlling your thermostat, or sending a SMS text letting your family know you'll be home soon.

To create IFTTT recipes that are triggered by your Tesla follow these instructions using a computer (not in your Tesla):

  1. First you must complete the "Setting up EVE to work with IFTTT" instructions above.
  2. Go to the EVE for Tesla Channel page on IFTTT: https://ifttt.com/eve_for_tesla
  3. Make sure that you are signed into IFTTT and then you can either select one of the Popular EVE for Tesla Recipes or create one of your own.
  4. To create your own recipe click on the Create a New Recipe button.
  5. Click on the THIS word and then type "eve" into the Search Channels field. Click on the EVE for Tesla Channel icon.
  6. Choose the trigger you wish to use. Then click on the Create Trigger button.
  7. Click on the THAT word and then choose an Action channel.
    • - For example if you wish to set your Nest to away when you leave then choose the Nest channel as the Action.
  8. Depending on the Action channel you choose you may need to connect and authenticate to that channel.
  9. Fill in the necessary fields based on the Action channel chosen.
    • - You can use information sent from the EVE for Tesla Trigger by clicking on the flask icon in the field and choosing an ingredient.
  10. Click on the Create Action button. Review the Recipe and then click Create Recipe button when you are satisfied.

Keep in mind that the EVE for Tesla dashboard must be running in the Tesla browser for the Triggers to work. Once you have created your recipes make sure you refresh the EVE for Tesla dashboard in your Tesla. Triggers can be run manually by going to the EVEConnect app.

Creating IFTTT Recipes That send messages to your Tesla Dashboard

With the EVE for Tesla IFTTT channel, you can display messages from other IFTTT channels on your EVE for Tesla dashboard. For example, you can setup an ESPN recipe that will display updates on your favourite sports teams, notify you when you get a new Android SMS text message, or get notified if your Smart Home Alarm is triggered.

To create IFTTT recipes that display a message on your EVE for Tesla dashboard follow these instructions using a computer (not in your Tesla):

  1. First you must complete the "Setting up EVE to work with IFTTT" instructions above.
  2. Go to the EVE for Tesla Channel page on IFTTT: https://ifttt.com/eve_for_tesla
  3. Make sure that you are signed into IFTTT and then you can either select one of the Popular EVE for Tesla Recipes or create one of your own.
  4. To create your own recipe click on the Create a New Recipe button.
  5. Click on the THIS word and then select the Trigger channel you wish to use.
  6. Click on the Create Trigger button. Additional fields may be required depending on the Trigger channel.
  7. Click on the THAT word and type "eve" into the Search Channels field. Click on the EVE for Tesla Channel icon.
  8. Click on the "Display message on Tesla dashboard" Action.
  9. Fill in the Subject and Message field
    • - Most Trigger channels will pre-fill the fields with suggested content but you can customize as you wish.
    • - You can use information sent from the Trigger by clicking on the flask icon in the field and choosing an ingredient.
  10. Click on the Create Action button. Review the Recipe and then click Create Recipe button when you are satisfied.

Keep in mind that the EVE for Tesla dashboard must be running in the Tesla browser for the Actions to work. Once you have created your recipes make sure you refresh the EVE for Tesla dashboard in your Tesla.
